I have just found Dodi's email of the 20th on another computer and returned
as a result. Honestly, you are all fools to yourself with your generosity.
Why on earth you should encourage me back I have no idea.

Look. I've got this idea... I can now get into paulq.pq at googlemail.com
There I saw others who'd been more than forgiving.

All I see in that account are messages from members - nothing else. As far
as I am aware no one, not even my wife and not even that nice man in
Nigeria who is promising me $40,000,000 knows this address.

If I can be Gary Mason and have this address: paulq.pq at googlemail.com, I
think this will work out (Despite the well-meaning, but not far-thinking,
people at Google who are threatening to change that to a gmail address.)

As far as Oreide 2314 is concerned, the round needs forgetting, it is
beyond being saved.

That figures. I actually received some votes. <sigh>

But more important, I'm glad you're back!

Welcome back! Glad you (apparently) decided not to leave! And we'll be glad
to use any e-mail address you tell us to use. But:

Is it paulq.pq as you say in your message? Or is it paulq86.pq as your
message header says?

Gary -

Why should we encourage you? Well if you stick around you'll realise what a
peculiar bunch we are, but then we've doing this interweb thing since, oh
way back in the previous century, so we've had time to learn to value, not
deride, our players' foibles. So I reckon you should stick around despite
the recent trauma and get to know us... As for this round we already have a
volunteer to do the counting if required.

And as far as I know, you can use any email address. You can also play via
the Google Groups website, as I and a couple of others do, but you still
need an email address for private messages such as the next time you (shock
horror) get the deal. Others will confirm/deny this.

I don't know what's wrong with me. Perhaps I have been struck with OCD...
oh look! a squirrel! Yes, it is the paulq86.pq (AT) googlemail (DOT) com

These are the originators of the definitions:

Keith Hale - The slurry left behind after gold is refined.
Guerri Stevens - a dressage pattern in which the horse moves backward,
forward, then once to each side.
Johnny Barrs - false gold - Any naturally occurring ore or mineral often
mistaken for a precious metal by the unwary, e.g. “fools’ gold"
Judy Madnick - a fractional currency of the Faeroe Islands, the 100th part
of a krona.
Dick Weltz - The shadow cast by a planetary moon when it passes between its
planet and the sun.
Daniel Widdis - (Print.) A kind of script in which the heavy strokes are
nearly Upright.
Efrem Mallach - Majority faction in the ancient Athenian senate.
Mike Shefler a trumpet fanfare, esp. one played at dawn.
Steve Dixon - a cloud of tiny ice crystals, also called "diamond dust" that
forms near the ground during a temperature inversion
Matthew Grieco - [obs] bafflement
Steve Graham - shameful, despicable.
The definition is from the OED - Any of various decorative golden-yellow
alloys of copper with zinc and other constituents.

"googlemail" is a longhand version of "gmail" - either version works as
though they were the same address - In the past you could opt for one or
the other and some people opted for gmail others haven't but the effect is
the same......

as a point of interest: I don't know if it true for other addresses but in
gmail (googlemail) the presence or absence of full stops in an address is
unimportant. so j.o.h.n.n.y.barrs is the same as johnny.barrs is the same
as johnnybarrs etc.. (this certainly is not true for some of my
multifarious identities on other ISPS) - the intersting thing is that it
used not to be true on googlemail (as opposed to gmail) so I still receive
email on this address here for someone else who has a <stop> in the name --
he apparently doesn't use email at all now so it is only the odd bill
notification that I get [[and I cannot stop them from the vendor becasue,
not having his password, they do not accept my right to challenge them]] -
that is one reason why this address is only used for the game (and spam of
course!) plus the odd private connversation with game memmbers - becasue he
might one day remember his address and read all this stuff

Glad Gary is back! This is a peculiar game we play here, and the
electronic mail challenges just add spice. Dealing happens, but not that
often for most of us, and even that gets to be a satisfying task after a
few times.

I'm not sure when gmail and googlemail became the same. I've been
jfshart@gmail since its early beta version, but a few years back I would
occasionally receive mail intended for jfshart (AT) googlemail (DOT) It hasn't
happened for a while so it may have been a temporary glitch, or perhaps
the other jfshart is using another address.

He would still need your password wouldn't he? If his password enabled him
to see your messages then presumably you could see his?

I think googlemail was a UK option originally (possibly googlemail.co.uk)
and the ability to change to gmail was offered when the co.uk became
amalgamated with gmail.com ---- but in the interest of ease at least here
either works to the same person

re the other person requiring my password to read my mail - of course, just
not thinking earlier today
