If not for Paul Keating, I would have to deal the next round, as well. So
many of you (7) sniffed out the real definition (“of or pertaining to
emerald; resembling emerald; of an emerald green color”) that the 1913
Webster's and I would be nominated. However, Paul Keating's definition (“a
gemlike lustrous green color”) *had *to be folded in. So, Paul, as our new
Dealer, both benefits and suffers from happening onto a submission that was
remarkably similar to the real def.

In round 2295, 2 players earned the coveted second spot with 6 points: they
were Mike Shefler and Nancy Shepherdson. Mike Shefler's definition "a type
of coarse alabaster, fire-hardened for use as flooring or tile," garnered a
natural 6. Nancy Shepherdson garbered 4 votes for her "multivariate to the
point of absurdity; describing a system with many branches or possible
results, most of which are impractical or nonsensical."

The true definition, as combined, was #4: "of or pertaining to emerald
green; of a gemlike lustrous green color . " (1913 Webster's), which 7
perceptive players guessed.

A special welcome to new player, Inderpreet Chawla.

Wow, that's got to be rare: someone's def combined with the real one AND
gets the deal. Has it ever happened before?

I looked at the rules and it seemed to be the only way to do it. It felt
weird, all the way through, a great "fake" def garnering hundreds of votes,
and a terrible, easily guessed Real word at the same time.

It was an odd round.
