First, I want to thank everyone for the patience and for the prayers and
well wishes. We just got home from the hospital and the surgery was
performed with just a bit more complexity than originally planned. She
turned out to have a stone lodged in the bile duct so they couldn't do the
laparoscopic procedure so she will have to spend 4 or 5 days in hospital
recovering. There is a small risk of premature labor in the next few
weeks so she'll spend that time in a high risk OB wing. All in all we're
feeling cautiously optimistic. Thank you again.

And now to the defs.

We have a total of 20 definitions for AGRAFFE. one of which you would find

First, all fingers crossed that there are no further complications.

As for "agraffe" -- no clue! I'll go with these:

<< 11. The onager, or Asiatic wild ass (Equus hemionus).
<< 14. A type of long grass found only on the African savannah.

Wow... that sounds a lot like my own gall bladder operation... started as laparoscopic and quickly turned into major surgery.* I only found out much later how really dangerous these things are: if that little "triborough bridge" [aka "common bile duct"] gets damaged, it's all over.* Glad she made it through!!
*
And now to the votes:
*
6 and 16, please.

8 and 15 without any reason - I am trying not to mess up "2/1 forcing"
with a new bridge partner.

Chris -

I'm hoping for a complete and rapid recovery.

On the AGRAFFE front, I'll be going with

15. A diacritic mark of some Scandinavian languages, consisting of a
small circle over the letter 'a'.

and

17. A hook-and-loop arrangement used for a clasp on armor or clothing.

Thanks and all my best wishes,

Chuck

I'll take 6 and 9.

Nancy,
who is back from the political campaign.

My candidate won the primary -- now the
real work begins. Don't be surprised
if I disappear again...
